Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced financial assistance of Rs 5 crore for the flood-hit victims of Jammu and Kashmir.

Lauding the mammoth multi-agency rescue efforts underway in Jammu and Kashmir to rescue lakhs of people trapped in flood-ravaged areas, the Chief Minister said the State has sent 300 tonnes of ready-to-eat packaged food.

The Chief Minister in a statement said 145 tonnes of food has already been air-lifted by Air Force personnel. The nutritious food, made of wheat, chana dal, milk powder, oil and sugar, is uncooked and can be consumed by mixing water.

An estimated four lakh people are believed to be trapped in the floods, which have claimed nearly 200 lives in the State.
