Award for Canara Bank

Canara Bank has bagged the Golden Peacock Award for excellence in corporate governance 2013, presented by Institute of Directors, India. The award was received by R K Dubey, Chairman and Managing Director, Canara Bank, at a function held at London recently from Baroness Verma. Also in London, Dubey, received prestigious Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Gold Samman Award at the Global Achievers’ Conclave organized by NRI Welfare Society of India at House of Lords, London.

‘Civic action internship’

Resurgent India, a non-profit trust headed by M.V. Rajeev Gowda of IIM, Bangalore, has initiated a ‘Civic action internship’ for students during the upcoming Dasara vacation. Gowda said, “The internship seeks to provide students a platform to understand and analyse civic issues affecting the residents of Bangalore city, observe patterns of interaction between citizens and civic issues, formulate solutions for such problems, as well as examine the feasibility of these solutions in the context of our municipal system.” The internship starts on October 19 and ends on November 6. CII meet on renewable energy

CII-Karnataka will hold an interactive session on renewable energy and climate change with John Bryson, former US Secretary of Commerce, at 3 pm on Monday at Tamarind Hall, Hotel Taj West End. According to a CII release, John Bryson currently heads The Bryson Climate Initiative, which is a new Wilson Centre initiative focused on addressing energy and climate change issues in priority countries: the US, China, and India. Before becoming Commerce Secretary, Bryson served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Edison International. Bryson has also served as a director on several public, educational and non-profit boards, including The Boeing Company and The Walt.

Dasasa Royal Walk in Mysore

Royal Mysore Walks has reintroduced the dressed walking tours in Mysore as part of Dasara festivities. According to Vinay Nagaraju of Royal Mysore Walks “Dressed walking tours in a new flavour through our Night Walking Tour – the Durbari way. On this tour, we dress up for you in the traditional Durbar attire and take you for a walk exploring the city under lights through its stories, history and the vibrant market.” The dressed walks are the themed walks which are conducted only during Dasara. The Dasasa Royal Walk starts at 7 am. And the Dasara Night Walk at 6.45 pm. Both starts from the Town Hall and is of two hours duration.
