In a major breakthrough in the Burdwan blast case the West Bengal police on Saturday arrested Bangladeshi operative Sajid. He was described as “chief of the Burdwan module” by National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The NIA also declared a Rs 10 lakh award for nabbing Sajid.
The accidental blast that took place on October 2, exposed a number of series of terrorist hideouts in the State. Two terrorists were killed and one injured, while making deadly explosives.
According to Rajiv Kumar, the commissioner of Bidhannagar City Police, Sajid is a resident of Narayanganj in Bangladesh. He is believed to be a member of the Majlis e Shura, the central committee of the Jamaat -e Mujahideen Bangladesh.
