The Centre for Development Studies (CDS) here is teaming up with New Delhi-based UN Women to organise a two-day national consultation on National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
Titled ‘Engendering health: The experience of NRHM,’ the consultation will be held at the CDS on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A CDS spokesperson recalled that NRHM was launched in 2005 for a period of up to 2012 (extended since then) to undertake an ‘architectural correction’ of the basic healthcare delivery system.
It is necessary to review the programme through a gender lens and envisage a new health architecture that will be gender-sensitive and sensitive to the needs of the poor, the spokesperson said.
