The Centre on Friday assured TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu that all commitments made to the residual State of Andhra Pradesh will be fulfilled.

The new look Andhra Pradesh will get statutory status on June 2, when Telangana will come into existence.

Naidu, the Chief Minister-designate of Andhra Pradesh, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati and others on Friday.

Issues related to various requirements of Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation were discussed in the meetings.

“The Centre has promised to fulfil all commitments made to Seemandhra. We have already started working,” Jaitley told reporters after meeting Naidu. He said the issue related to special category status will be first discussed in the full Planning Commission and then in the National Development Council.

Naidu said the Centre had, at that time, announced a special package for Seemandhra and industrial incentives for both the States. Meeting Bharati, Naidu sought speedy implementation of the Polavaram multi-purpose project.

Later in the evening, Naidu met Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Naidu raised the issue of natural gas supply for the stranded gas based power plant in the State. He also discussed the setting up of an LNG terminal on the Andhra coast.
