Diversified New Hope Group of China is interested in setting up an animal feed plant by investing Rs 80 crore in West Bengal.
“A Chinese group has expressed interest in investing Rs 80 crore in West Bengal for setting up an animal feed plant,” Chinese Counsul General in Kolkata Zhang Lizhong told an interactive session at the Calcutta Chamber of Commerce.
The group is finalising project details to set up the animal feed plant preferably close to the port.
“We have manufacturing units across Asian countries, except India. We plan to invest Rs 80 crore in West Bengal as a testing ground for future investments,” Adrian Lee, representing the group in India said.
He said the group imported raw material for animal feed from India and wanted to have a manufacturing base in the country.
The Indian venture would help to produce finished products for the local market and assist in export of animal feed raw materials like maize to China.
Lee said, the company was open to joining hands with a local company in India.
Speaking about the tourism potential, Lizhong said that guides trained in Chinese to boost Chinese tourism in India have been proposed.
Asked about border issues, Lizhong said talks were taking place and he was hopeful of a resolution.
