Cold wave conditions had the most of Punjab and Haryana under its grip for the past few days, with Hisar having recorded the coldest temperature plummeting several notches below normal.

Hisar in Haryana reeled under biting cold at minus 0.8 degree Celsius, MeT department said here on Sunday.

Freezing cold also swept Narnaul, which recorded a low of 0.1 degree Celsius, six below normal while Bhiwani experienced severe chill recording a minimum of 1.4 degree Celsius. Ambala recorded a low of 6.3 degree Celsius.

While in Punjab, Adampur in Jalandhar district continued to be the coldest place, recording a low of 0.5 degree Celsius.

Amritsar too shivered at a low of 1.6 degrees Celsius with Patiala and Ludhiana recording minimum temperatures of 5.6 degree Celsius and 6.2 degree Celsius respectively.

Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, also reeled under biting chill recording a low of 4.4 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, a MeT official said that fog had lifted and the weather was sunny in most places in the two states including Chandigarh. Cold wave conditions are likely to continue in the region for the next few days, he added.
