Congress, which came a poor third in the Maharashtra Assembly polls with 42 seats, has been virtually wiped out in Mumbai, Thane and Konkan belt.
In Mumbai, the party bagged only five seats while in Konkan districts the lone winner was Nitesh Rane in Kankavli.
His father and former Chief Minister Narayan Rane lost in Kudal.
In neighbouring Thane district, the party drew a blank with even its sitting MLA Rajendra Gavit losing in Palghar.
In North Maharashtra and Vidarbha, the party could win ten seats each, while in Western Maharashtra it won only seven seats.
In Marathwada, the party got nine seats. The two Lok Sabha MPs that Congress has in Maharashtra come from Marathwada.
Congress contested all the 288 seats after 15 years when its alliance with NCP was called off. The party got 18 per cent of the total vote share.
