Hudhud: It’s a national calamity, says AP CM

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock at the extent of devastation wrought by Cyclone Hudhud and said that all steps would be taken to mitigate the suffering of the people. He urged the Centre to declare it a national calamity.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh may visit the city on Tuesday, and he would brief them about the extent of the damage. He visited the fishing harbour and other affected areas. “I am shocked by the cyclone damage. Vizag is ravaged,” he said.

The Chief Minister said he would camp in the city for the next three to four days to instil confidence among the people. He released a copy of the Government Order issued on Sunday to increase compensation for house/property/crop and cattle loss.
