The West Bengal Government on Thursday announced allocation of 15 acres of land to ITC Infotech at Rajarhat New Town, in the eastern fringes of the city.
ITC Infotech is a fully owned IT arm of ITC Ltd.
“Our State Cabinet has approved the allocation of 15 acres of land at Rajarhat to ITC Infotech,” Partha Chatterjee, State Commerce, Industry and IT minister, told reporters at the Writers’ Building.
The land will be allotted in the Action Area III of Rajarhat. Earlier the Government offered land to IT majors Wipro and Infosys in the same area.
In August 2011, the West Bengal Government said that the company had expressed its willingness to shift the engineering design and technical division subject to availability of land.
The company approached the State way back in 2005 seeking land for setting up facilities at Rajarhat. However, the then Left Front Government decided against it.
