As Roshini Ramkumar and her team members Meenakshi Ramkumar, Shruti Jhaver, and Sruthi Krishnamoorthy present their dream venture, team Prathipad’s business plans and likely profitability of the venture, one would tend to think that they are entrepreneurs looking out for angel investment. But, surprisingly, they are just high school students who won the business plan contest at the TYE (TiE Young Entrepreneur) workshop.
To align young minds in tandem with global school kids who do not want to take the path which is already taken, TYE focuses on teaching entrepreneurship to young people and helping them discover their rewards and challenges of becoming an entrepreneur.
TiE, Chennai, under the leadership of its President, Lakshmi Narayanan, Vice-Chairman of Cognizant Technology Solutions, conducted a TyE programme for high school students last year. On winning the TYE workshop, the team was further mentored working to make the idea a successful business model. Introducing the team to the mediapersons at a press conference here, K. Swaminathan, Programme Co-ordinator, TYE , and CEO of myBskool.com, said entrepreneurship is a nation building process, and TYE aimed at nurturing and training the budding entrepreneurs.
The team is now all set to fly to Washington DC next month to participate in the Global Business Plan Competition 2013 organised by TYE .
They are one among the 16 teams from all over the world that will participate.
