Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that Kakatiya International Convention Centre will be constructed in Warangal on public private partnership (PPP) to commemorate the Kakatiya Festival 2012-2013.
The Chief Minister said it is proposed celebrate it in a grand manner befitting rich cultural heritage of the Kakatiyas. A year-long festival will be conducted beginning December 21, 2012.
The year 2012-13 marks 800 years of the historic Ramappa temple and 750 years of the coronation of Rani Rudrama Devi of the Kakatiya regime.
The district administration, with guidance from the Department of Tourism and the support of Kakatiya Heritage Trust and the INTACH plan to conduct the festival showcasing the rich heritage, culture, architecture and the glory of the Kakatiya regime where the historic city of Warangal was its capital.
The opening event of the 'Kakatiya Utsavalu' will be held during December 21- 23.
The festival is being planned at three venues each of which is a showpiece of the Kakatiya rule. Warangal Fort, Ramappa temple and Thousand Pillar temple have been chosen as venues.
Various events and programmes highlighting the heritage and glory of the Kakatiyas contribution have been planned. A cultural extravaganza with performances by the exponents of classical performing arts in the country has also been planned during the festival.
Cultural performances of various genres, literary activities, events showcasing the rural, cultural and sporting scenario have been planned. Food courts creating the ambience of overall festivities and celebration are proposed to be set up.
Renowned personalities of Warangal district, who have brought laurels in different fields, will be felicitated during the Kakatiya festival.
