A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Thursday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file a report on the status of its probe into the alleged illegality and irregularities in the conduct of lotteries of other states.
The Bench comprising Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice A.M.Shaffique also directed the State government to place on record the action taken against illegalities in the conduct of outside lotteries whenever they were noticed
The court also asked the State government to inform it of the steps taken against the Megha distributor, promoter of Sikkim and Bhutan lotteries.
The Bench issued the directives when a pending writ petition filed byS.Sulfikar, a journalist from Thiruvananthapuram and another persons complaining about the irregularities sale of lotteries of Bhutan and Sikkim.
The UDF Government had issued a notification transferring 32 cases relating to corruption and irregularities in conduct of Bhutan and Sikkim lotteries in Kerala to CB I. The CBI filed final reports in some of the cases.
