Kerala move for solar streetlights

The State government plans to install solar streetlights in all municipalities across Kerala shortly.

The programme will be launched in Aluva municipality by installing 100 solar streetlights, Electricity Minister Aryadan Mohammed has said.

The Minister said he is keen on making it mandatory for houses of 300 square feet and above to install solar panels on their roofs and ensure subsidies on electricity bills to those who install a 1 KW solar system.

He was speaking after inaugurating the regional office of PTL Solar Energy Pvt Ltd’ in Aluva near here recently.

Prabish Thomas, founder and managing director PTL Solar Group, welcomed the gathering.
