Banerjee started her district tour with Nadia and Murshidabad on Wednesday and will visit North and South Dinajpur districts. The region is a Congress bastion that has sent six Congress MPs to the Lok Sabha.
This visit to the districts is seen in Congress circles as an attempt to wean way voters from the Congress ahead of the panchayat polls slated for early next year.
