Continuing to voice her opposition to FDI in multi-brand retail and other economic reforms, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday urged political parties supporting the UPA Government to take a stand on the “anti-people decisions” of the Centre.
She maintained that a stand needs to be taken in the interest of the common people and sought “public opinion” on the various decisions by the Centre.
“May I request the political parties supporting the UPA-II to take stand in the interest of common people, so that anti-people decisions are not implemented?” Banerjee wrote on her Facebook wall post.
“May I also seek public opinion on these issues?” she further appealed.
According to Banerjee, time was running out to voice protest against anti-people decisions taken by the UPA-II that include an increase in diesel prices, fertiliser prices, restriction on use of LPG cylinders, introduction of FDI in retail, pension and insurance.
