The Web site of the Agriculture Department of Andhra Pradesh Government is hacked. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has stopped the site “due to a critical incident’’.
“The NIC headquarters has stopped the site following the vulnerability observation made by the Cyber Security Division of the apex IT organisation of the Union Government,’’ a Government official told Business Line.
The site is not working for the last few days with the home page showing the one-line message that it was stopped.
He, however, refused to divulge the nature of vulnerability. He also did not respond to a query on whether it was a hacking attempt.
“They do this exercise randomly and informed us that they would be downing the site. They might be doing this to preempt attacks by proactively finding and plugging the vulnerabilities,’’ he said.
It was not the first time that the Government Web sites were found to be vulnerable. Early this year, a few department sites were attacked by the hackers.
