Panasonic India is targeting a Rs. 125-crore sales turnover during the Onam festival season in the State.
Company officials told a news conference that the consumer-durables manufacturer was making an aggressive sales push this Onam with its wide range of home appliances, including air-conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines.
They said 35 per cent of the Panasonic turnover in Kerala was made during the Onam-Ramadan shopping period. Manoj N.G., regional manager, sales, said six per cent of Panasonic India’s turnover was from Kerala.
He noted that the rupee depreciation is likely to increase the prices of Panasonic products soon. “If the value of the rupee goes beyond Rs. 62 to the dollar, we will have to increase the prices,” Manoj said.
This was because a huge chunk of the products came from Thailand and Malaysia. Already, prices of certain products have been increased by around 5 per cent.
The company, which has many manufacturing facilities in the country, is now building its manufacturing hub in Haryana. A few factories have already been located there and in due course, more will come up.
