Raasi Green Earth Energy Private Ltd (RGEE), which has signed a memorandum of understanding with Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) for establishing Rs 920 crore solar energy park at Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district, will develop the park by May. The land acquisition process is to be completed by the end of this month.

According to sources, C. Narasimhan, Chairman, RGEE, giving details of the progress of the project at Ramanathapuram recently, said that the company had acquired 200 acres and will complete the process of acquiring 600 acres by the end of this month. The park will be ready in the next three months. The company has entered into a tie-up with Larsen and Tubro, CanadianSolar, Enerpark and Sgurr to develop the park after signing the joint venture agreement.

The park will have “semi plug and play facility” for investors, who wished to set up their power plants, he added. It will also have facilities for power evacuation besides common infrastructure support. A dozen companies have evinced interest in setting up power plants in the park. Raasi will invest about Rs 200 crore in the project. It will develop the park at a cost of Rs 120 crore and establish a 10 MW unit at a cost of Rs 80 crore. The second solar energy park in the State will come up in Krishnagiri. Other solar parks will be established in the districts of Tiruvannamalai, Ariyalur, Pudukottai, Dharmapuri, Tiruchi and Perambalur, Narasimhan said, according to sources.
