To provide polling booth information to voters, the Election Commission has launched the “Electoral Roll Search”, a service which can be used by voters to search their names and get information related to which polling station they need to go to.
The service has been launched through the internet on mobiles, tablets and computers and by SMS through mobiles. It is available in 14 States and Union Territories including Pondicherry, Delhi, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, Punjab and Sikkim. It is likely to be made available in other States soon, the Commission has said in a statement.
Internet users can access the information by following “Voter search” provided on the Commission’s website ( >www.eci.gov.in ) while mobile internet users can access the services through >www.electoralsearch.in .
BSNL, Idea, MTNL, Tata Docomo, Tata Indicom and Vodaphone users can send an SMS to 166.
