RSS to hold workers' conference after 15 years in Gujarat

Three-day Karyakarta Shibir durng January 2-4 aims to strengthen cadre in state

After a decade and a half, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is bringing together Gujarat's designated karyakartas on a common platform. In order to strengthen the cadre and penetrate the 'ideology' to grassroot levels, the RSS has organised a 3-day 'karyakarta shibir' (workers' conference) in Ahmedabad during January 2 to 4.

The conference, for which over 25,800 karyakartas from over 2,800 villages across the State have registered so far, will also see camping of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and RSS leaders like Bhaiyaji Joshi.

"Invitations have also been sent to all the past designated karyakartas including Narendra Modi, Girish Joshi, Sanjay Joshi among others. However, confirmations are awaited," said Jayantbhai Bhadesiya, prant sanghchalak - Gujarat.

The venue of the shibir at the Dastan farm on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, has been named after Lakshmanrao Inamdar (Vaki Saheb), mentor of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The three-day karyakarta shibir will begin on January 2 with launch of an exhibition - named after educationist and RSS ideologue Keka Shastri showcasing Indian culture and knowledge, India's freedom struggle, issues of global warming and its solutions, environment, cow besides exhibiting RSS' achievements, among others.

According to Sangh sources, activity in Gujarat is gaining momentum and number of people attending the daily and weekly shakhas (meetings) is gaining gradually, mostly in rural areas.

"Currently we have 1,145 daily shakhas in Gujarat. Also, there are monthly and weekly shakhas," said Bhadesiya.

RSS Chief Bhagwat will inaugurate the three-day shibir on January 2 evening. A formal press interaction is scheduled for January 3.

On the last and third day of the shibir on January 4, a mega public rally has been organised at the venue, Dastan Farm on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.

Notably, during January 7-9 the city is hosting guests for Pravasi Bhartiya Divas, subsequently during January 11-13, global business honchos will visit the city for the high-profile Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit.
