Gandhi family scion, Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday called on all parties to come together to support and pass the Lokpal Bill during the ongoing winter session of the Parliament.
At a time when the Congress received a shock during the recent Assembly elections held in five States, in which it lost out in four States, the party’s Vice-President Rahul Gandhi made a big push for the anti-graft bill that he said was of “national importance”.
This is also being seen as a counter to the first-time Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) — which made a dazzling entry into politics in the National Capital on December 8 — which has been pushing for the Lokpal Bill and promised to bring it to pass in Delhi if it comes to power.
However, Gandhi denied this and said it has nothing to do with AAP.
Calling all political parties to “set aside their little differences” Gandhi said they are standing at the finishing line, since they have broad consensus and need some movement from political parties to cross the line.
“If we get the support of opposition we can pass this Bill,” Gandhi said.
