BJP president, Rajnath Singh, said that the BJP does not believe in “political untouchablity”, while addressing a press conference at Mumbai today. When asked about Raj Thackeray’s remark – “ Rajnath who? I know Modi who should become prime minister”" that came just days back, Rajnath Singh chose to downplay it. He was also unperturbed about questions relating to the personal friendship between Sharad Pawar and Narendra Modi.

Rajnath expressed confidence that the BJP would win both the general elections and the Assembly elections in Maharashtra in October.

On being asked about the possibility of him becoming prime minister as a moderate figure acceptable to all parties as well as minorities, he said, “Only Modi will be PM if NDA forms government. There is no plan B. It is more to do with the moral authority Narendra Modi holds after being projected as PM candidate for BJP.”
