The report on locating the new capital and urban hubs for Andhra Pradesh will be submitted before the end of August, according to KC Siva Ramakrishan, Chairman of the panel on recommending a new capital for Andhra Pradesh.
He was addressing a press conference here last weekend to brief on the panel's dialogue with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and others here today.
“Our discussions ranged not just around one administrative capital but also about other centres,” Siva Ramakrishnan said.
When asked on AP Govt's inclination to set up new capital in Guntur-Vijayawada, he said as per the terms of reference, the panel would examine various possibilities.
“We fully recognise that it is the prerogative of the State government to decide on the capital,” the retired bureaucrat said.
On whether a greenfield city would be ideal, he said the present situation in the State would not permit it in view of the urgent need for a capital.
