The Shiv Sena, as a part of its strategy for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra, declared on Thursday that it would be providing tablet computers free of charge to school children, if the party comes to power after October.
The tablet computers, popularly known as ‘tabs’, would be given to all students studying in 8th to 10th standard under the State syllabus. The course content would be loaded on the tabs with the help of a microchip.
Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray told mediapersons that the course material has been designed for English and Marathi currently, but would later also be designed for languages such as Hindi and Urdu.
These announcements are part of the Shiv Sena’s vision document for Maharashtra, which Thackeray has been sharing with people over the last three months.
