The Scheme for Special Infrastructure in nine Naxal-hit States will be continued during the 12th Plan period (up to March 31, 2017).
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Tuesday approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs seeking continuation of the scheme.
The total cost would be Rs 373 crore comprising Rs 280 crore as Union Government share and Rs 93 crore as State Government share on a 75:25 funding pattern, an official release said.
The scheme, being implemented since 2008-09, proposes to enhance the security in the region which would provide an enabling environment for development.
During the 11th Plan period, 100 per cent funding was provided by the Union Government to the nine affected States for implementing various projects under the scheme. The total funds release under the scheme by the Union Government to the States during the 11th Plan period was Rs 445.82 crore, the release added.
