Stringent measures to curb illegal mining in Punjab

The Punjab government today said it has initiated stringent measures to contain illegal mining out of quarries.

State’s Industries and Commerce Minister Anil Joshi said mining officers have been directed to initiate immediate legal action against all offenders.

He said during the past three days, 29 FIRs have been lodged in the various districts of Punjab to curb illegal mining.

The Minister said the public could lodge their complaints in this regard with the General Manager—cum—Mining Officer of the concerned district.
