The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board will recruit over 4,000 field staff to strengthen its operations.
According to an official press release, the utility will recruit these workers through the employment exchanges. They will be paid Rs 3,250 a month during the initial two-year training period. Their services will then be regularised and given timescale pay.
The Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa said in the press release the State will soon be power surplus with a number of power projects being expedited and the operations of the Electricity Board being strenghthened.
The Vallur 1,000 MW thermal power project, 1,200 MW North Chennai Thermal Power Project, 600 MW Mettur Thermal Power Project will soon commence operations. In addition, the State Government has helped sort out the issues relating to the Kudangulam Nuclear Power Plant, which will soon start generating power, she said
