Social networks were clearly painted in political hues on a day the results of the four State elections were declared.

Polls 2013, Electionsresult 2013, TrustNaMo, Rahul Gandhi, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Sheila Dixit were trending on Twitter through the day.

Twitterdom was full of congratulatory messages, quips and even brickbats.

Many India Inc stalwarts lauded Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) performance in Delhi elections.

Anand Mahindra, CMD, Mahindra Group, tweeted, “AAP’s dramatic debut shows we want desperately to be idealistic & not cynical. That honesty isn’t just the best policy but the best politics.”

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Managing Director, Biocon, who was actively tweeting through the day, said, “AAP’s amazing debut marks a proud day for Indian democracy and people power-zero tolerance for non-performance ’n (and) poor governance.” She also added, “Congress has been shown the door for poor political leadership and unconvincing approach to corruption. A thumping endorsement for AAP.”

RBS India Chairperson Meera Sanyal praised AAP’s volunteers. “Kudos to the magnificent support by AAP volunteers – this victory is as much theirs as the candidates,” she wrote

Former Infosys’ board member and shareholder activist Mohandas Pai, who was responding to tweets through the day, wrote, “Folks the verdict is clear, people want growth, good governance, no corruption, jobs not doles, freebies, idle promises. No Poverty of politics.”

Celebrities and the members of the entertainment industry, too, were not far behind. Congratulating Arvind Kejriwal and AAP, actor Anupam Kher tweeted, “Congratulations to the Indian Voter for their belief in Change.”

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar likened the rise of AAP to a Bollywood film plot. “Like a Bollywood underdog film with no star cast but an interesting promo, AAP has given a hit! Like in films, in politics too, u never know,” he said.

Film director and ad-film maker Gauri Shinde said, “Wow! Some change happening in our country!! Bravo Delhi for a great voter turnout. Sheila Dixit out!”

Pritish Nandy and Shekhar Kapur had some advice. While Nandy said that, “Congress must now not only redefine its electoral strategy it must find a new batch of people to talk to voters. All the jokers must go.”

Kapur warned, “A #Revolution could be lost if not accompanied by discipline responsibility n social justice. Or v r back 2 feudalism.”
