UST Global, a leading IT solutions and services company, has installed GPS tracking on the company’s cabs engaged by its Thiruvananthapuram centre.
The move is aimed to ensure the safety and security of employees using the cabs. UST Global operates cabs to various parts of the city as part of the pick-and-drop facility.
All the company cabs are now tracked in real-time using GPS. A 'panic button' is also provided within. It is fitted to the top of the rear seats.
In case of an emergency, employees can press the button to trigger an automated SMS to the company’s real estate and facility management team.
These apart, instances of over speeding (above 80 km/hr) also will generate an automated message to the team, which has developed the security features on board.
'Well received'
Any abrupt braking of the vehicle and potential dangerous driving by drivers would also be promptly reported in this manner.
Hema Menon, Centre Head, UST Global, Thiruvananthapuram, said that mounting GPS and installation of panic buttons in the cabs are recent additions towards ensuring enhanced security of employees.
“These have been well received and are widely appreciated.
"In addition to making employees feel secure, we are also ensuring that cab drivers adhere to traffic laws.”
The company is mulling over extending this to other centres, Menon said.
Head-quartered in Aliso Viejo, California, UST Global also has operations in Mexico, Spain, the UK, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore.
