It is almost like a joint family splitting up in a soap opera. Two weeks ahead of the appointed day for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, employees in the secretariat face a vertical division as well.
Even as there is controversy on the allotment of some Andhra Pradesh natives to the Telangana secretariat, efforts are on to erect a wall between the Telangana and AP secretariat buildings in the common campus here.
“There have been instructions in this regard and we are working on it in line with the allotment of building to each State,” a senior official told
The A, B, C and D blocks have been allotted to Telangana while up to L block have been given to AP.
The ongoing row over staff allotment took a serious turn today with Telangana’s CM-designate and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) joining the fray.
After meeting leaders of the Telangana employees associations here earlier this week, KCR said employees who were natives of AP will “not be allowed to enter into the Telangana secretariat”.
As per the provisional allotment of employees for the two secretariats, out of a total of 1,865 employees, 1,060 have been identified as belonged to AP and the balance 805 to Telangana.
But the Telangana Secretariat Employees Association, which also staged a protest on Wednesday, contends that about 200 staffers allotted to Telananga do not belong to the region. They complained about it to KCR today. Narender Rao, secretary of the Association, said an action plan would be chalked out soon to ‘protect’ the interests of the region.
“We don’t want employees belonging to AP to get involved in the administration of Telangana. If there are surplus posts, we want them to be filled through fresh recruitment by the Telangana Government,” he said.
