Warangal will be the first district in Andhra Pradesh to be equipped with 4G network. “A network of 150 km of optical fibre cable has been laid in the district. Only a few kilometres needs to be added. We expect that to be completed in a few days,” Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah said.
“Once the network is laid, the district will be ready to offer 4G services, significantly reducing the cost of data transfer. We expect the cost of transfer of 1 gigabyte to come down to Rs 30-40 from Rs 150,” the Minister said.
Talking to reporters after inaugurating eShiksha services here on Saturday, he said the State Government plans to provide 4G connectivity in Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Tirupati and Karimnagar in the first phase. After that it would cover 92 cities and towns in the State.
