With the digitisation deadline expiring on October 31, the West Bengal government today again urged the Centre to extend it as demanded by cable TV operators here.
“After the minister-level communication with the Centre early this month, a secretary-level communication was made today urging the Centre to extend the deadline for digitisation,” Sanjay Mitra, Chief Secretary said after a meeting with senior police and administrative officials.
The request was made again as cable operators and MSOs expressed inability to meet the deadline within the stipulated period, he said.
Urban Development Minister, Firhad Hakim, who had written to the Centre earlier, said that cable operators had asked for extension of the deadline as set-top boxes were not fully available with them.
