Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal took on Lt Governor Najeeb Jung on the Jan Lokpal Bill on Friday.
In a strong letter to Jung, Kejriwal accused him of protecting the interests of the Congress and the Central Home Ministry, which he said were bent upon stalling the Bill.
The letter comes a day after reports in the media about Jung seeking Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran’s opinion on the Delhi Government’s Jan Lokpal Bill. Parasaran is reported to have termed it “unconstitutional” unless the Centre gives it prior consent.
Kejriwal questioned how Jung had sought comments from Parasaran on a Bill that was sent to him only last evening, and how news about the Solicitor General’s objection leaked out.
“I was surprised when I heard on television last night about the SG’s opinion. On which Bill you had sought SG’s opinion as we had sent the draft to you only in the evening?” he asked. Earlier in the day, journalist and AAP spokesperson Ashutosh also accused the Lt Governor of being a “Congress agent”.
