Highlights of Aam Aadmi Party’s election manifesto:
1. Commitment to passing Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill within 15 days of coming to power. Cases against Ministers, MLAs, Secretaries to be completed in six months to one year
2. Demand for full statehood to Delhi so that MCD, DDA and Delhi Police are directly controlled by the Delhi government
3. Reduction of consumer electricity expenditure by 50% by audit of discoms, rectifying inflated bills and getting bills checked by independent agencies
4. Discoms to be brought under RTI. Monopolies to be ended and consumers to be allowed to choose between two electricity providers
5. Free water for households using up to 700 litres (a day). To clamp down on tanker mafia. No privatisation of the Delhi Jal Board
6. Regularisation of unauthorised colonies within a year on rates decided in the notification of March 24, 2008
7. Two lakh community and public toilets to be built in Delhi
8. Will bring law to regulate high fees and donations in private schools and colleges. Employment of contractual/temporary teachers in government, private schools and colleges to be regularised.
9. Use of generic medicines to be promoted
10. VAT structures to be simplified and FDI in retail to be opposed
11. Facilities in industrial areas to be improved and licensing procedures simplified
12. No contractual jobs for work that requires 365 days a year; implementation of minimum wages to be ensured
13. Fill all vacant government posts, provide young entrepreneurs loans at low interest rate
14. Expansion of DTC bus service and Delhi Metro
