Medha Patkar, social activist who contested parliamentary elections on Aam Admi Party (AAP) ticket, has said that the party should focus more on people’s issues.
In an informal chat with presspersons on the sidelines of the launch of a boat rally to Thiruvanathapuram, which was organised by the National Fishworkers’ Federation, in Mangalore on Friday, she said AAP is focusing only on Delhi which she does not agree.
The party would do better if it focuses on people’s issues in between the elections, she said, adding that the party is one of the vehicles for that.
Asked if she is still with AAP, Patkar said she is just a member of the party. “I am more active in movements,” she said.
Asked if AAP is seen as a party led by one man, she said she did not think so. Many volunteers left their jobs and professions to work for the party. Media sees one or two faces. But there are a number of volunteers at the grassroot level. Same is the case with the movements, she said.
