A month seems like a long time for the BJP to form a government in Delhi with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) trying new moves every day to prevent that from happening.
After badgering the Supreme Court with a CD of their purported sting operation, an AAP delegation led by Arvind Kejriwal thronged the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung’s quarters on Wednesday. The Supreme Court will hear the Central Government’s response to a petition by AAP demanding fresh elections in Delhi on October 10.
Submits CDAAP, meanwhile, told the LG that he should withdraw the letter to the President seeking his permission to invite the BJP to form the government in Delhi.
“We have submitted the CD of our sting operation which shows BJP trying to buy our MLA for ₹4 crore. We requested the LG to watch the video. We also asked him to revise the September 4 letter he sent to President Pranab Mukherjee in which, in a way, he has sought permission to invite BJP for government formation,” said AAP leader Manish Sisodia who accompanied party chief Arvind Kejriwal during the meeting.
“Even if BJP forms the government by horse trading, the problems of Delhi will not be solved. Such a government will be a burden on the people of Delhi and forming government this way will be betraying them,” Sisodia said.
At the meeting, AAP asked Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to dissolve the Delhi Assembly.
New lease of lifeWhile the AAP seems to have stepped up political activity, the BJP is being restrained in its responses. The Delhi BJP unit president Satish Upadhyay has not given a straight answer to whether his party is ready to form a government in the Capital.
