Former Infosys CFO V Balakrishnan will once again lead an AAP effort in Bengaluru — this time to raise funds.
The former honcho, popularly referred to as Bala, is organising a lunch here to raise funds to fight Delhi Assembly elections.
“The main attraction at the lunch, to be held on January 11, will be Arvind Kejriwal. He will be in town to interact with guests and donors contributing ₹20,000 and above,” said Bala. The event is likely to be hosted at Woodlands Hotel.
The people of Karnataka, especially Bengaluru, have always offered support to AAP by raising the maximum amount of funds, he added.
“Many people may have complained about AAP quitting the Delhi government. But, everyone agrees now that those 49 days in power were very effective,” he said.
“Ground support for the party in Delhi is growing by the day. Our party leader had challenged the BJP saying that the more they delay the elections, the better will be the chances for us,” he added.
AAP Karnataka, during the last Lok Sabha elections, held a similar fund-raising dinner and was able to raise ₹50 lakh. “This time also we are aiming to raise a similar amount or better than the previous one,” said Prithvi Reddy, AAP’s national executive member.
“During the previous Delhi Assembly elections, AAP Karnataka stood third in fund raising,” he added.

AAP Karnataka’s “Selfie with Mufflerman” campaign, which was launched on December 19 and ends on January 7, is going on smoothly, said Bala. “So far the party has been able to raise ₹3 crore. We may collect more in the last week,” he added.
Apart from funds, AAP Karnataka has been sending volunteers to Delhi to help with the poll work.
“About 150 people have registered to work as volunteers for two weeks in Delhi during the elections. At present eight volunteers are working in Delhi,” said Reddy.
