As Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal’s fast against ‘inflated’ power and water bills entered the 11th day on Tuesday, social activists Aruna Roy and Medha Patkar called for a “special CAG audit electricity and water supply in Delhi and make the findings public in a fixed and short time frame.”

Extending support to Kejriwal, the Roy-led Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan and Patkar-led National Alliance of People’s Movement issued separate statements on Tuesday.

“While there can be a debate on the magnitude of the alleged misappropriation and their implications on power tariff, it is evident that the regulatory process has failed to provide adequate resolution to this issue — both in fact and in appearance,” a statement signed by Roy and her associates said.

Meanwhile, an AAP statement issued on Tuesday demanded that private discoms in Delhi should put their collection figures in public domain.

The statement was in response to media reports that discoms had claimed that they had recorded no losses in collection for March so far.

“The people of Delhi have the right to know how much profit discoms are making in distributing the electricity,” the statement said.
