The Delhi government has cracked the whip on construction sites that are emitting dust and are not adhering to the rules to control dust pollution. This is as per the National Green Tribunal order.
According to a release, the government has issued challans to 14 construction sites of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and 42 major construction sites of various authorities, including private builders for violating dust control measures.
Penalty collection Sites of Delhi Metro include those handled by FEMC-Pratibha joint venture, Ircon, L&T, CEC CICI JV and HCC, according to Delhi government.
Meanwhile, for lack of dust control from several construction sites and burning prohibited products such as garbage and leaf, the Delhi government has collected close to ₹48 lakh last week.
These decisions were taken by concerned agencies during a meeting chaired by the nodal minister for controlling air pollution in the national capital Satyendar Jain on Wednesday. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee informed that the third phase inspections were again taken up in respect of 48 sites where the construction activity was found in progress in first and second phase of drive.
Out of the 47 verification done out of these 48 sites, notices have been served to 42 project proponents for depositing compensation of ₹ 50,000, said the release. The three municipal corporations, NDMC, Department of Revenue, DPCC and other agencies have provided the latest data of challans issued by them for burning of leaves in open areas.
