A job fair will be conducted at Chikballapur on August 3 and 4. The event is being organised by the Chikballapur MP and Union Minister, Veerappa Moily, in association with the Karnataka Government and the Moodbidri-based Alvas Education Foundation.
Vivek Alva, Trustee of the Alvas Education Foundation, said in a press release here that this year has witnessed a drastic drop in the job market with all the major companies resorting to either freezing their intake or retrenching their employees.
“When many others thought it was impossible this year, we did not want to stop the pursuit in facilitating employment opportunities for the youth of the State,” Alva said.
The objective is to build a strong platform for employers, and match work requisites with industry-specific aspirations, the release said.
Organisers are targeting more than 250 companies spanning across sectors such as information technology (IT), IT-enabled services, manufacturing, automobile, healthcare, banking and financial services institutions.
The release said that prior online registration by the candidates would help the organisers in providing real-time data on candidates to the company.
The registration can be done at www.udyogamela.com. Even the updates about the companies registered will be provided. The registration is free of cost for both the job aspirants as well as the companies.
The job fair is purely cause-driven and there will be no monetary charges levied on either the candidate or the company, the release said.
