Alva’s job fair: Firms looking for graduates and ITI candidates

Alva’s Pragati, the annual mass placement drive to be conducted by the Moodbidri-based Alva’s Education Foundation on June 24 and 25, will offer a large number of openings to graduates in various streams, according to Vivek Alva, Managing Trustee of the Foundation.

Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Thursday, he said top recruiters representing sectors such as information technology (IT), IT-enabled services, manufacturing, retail, finance, hospitality, and education will participate in Alva’s Pragati.

The online store Amazon will offer more than 120 jobs for graduates. There are more than 300 job openings for nursing graduates in leading hospitals across India, he said.

Alva’s Pragati also offers opportunities for more than 300 candidates with ITI qualification.

There are more than 250 openings for diploma holders in mechanical and automobile sectors for apprenticeship in different companies, he said.

Around 200 companies are expected to take part in the two-day placement drive, Alva said. Alva’s Pragati, which is an annual event, is in its ninth edition now.

Around 16,000 candidates attended Alva’s Pragati in 2016. Nearly 1,200 of these candidates were selected by various companies in the 2016 placement drive, he added.
