Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said that the State and the Centre will work in tandem in developing the new capital city of Amaravati in the Guntur district of the State.
Speaking after the foundation stone laying ceremony here today, Naidu said the Centre should help AP get over the problems of unjust bifurcation.
Thanking thousands of farmers who had gathered here for the mega event, he said the development of the capital city would not have been possible without their support for land pooling where farmers voluntarily contributed 33,000 acres for the Capital.
He said Mana Neeru, Mana Matti and Mana Amaravati have become popular. Soil for 13,000 villages, 3,000 wards and 16,000 locations and water from 33 rivers has been brought for the event.
He thanked the Prime Minister for personally handing over soil from Parliament and water from Yamuna brought in two pots.
The Chief Minister said the new capital city would be built on nine major themes, administration, justice, finance, sports among others.
The State Government signed a memorandum with a Japanese Government agency seeking their support.
A senior Japanese Government official said they have great knowledge from building their capital city after many of their towns were destroyed during the World War.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said AP will play a big role in human resource development.
Several major institutions including AIIMS, IIT, NIT, IISC, will come up in AP to develop human resources.
The Singapore Government expressed its continued support in building the new capital. Their two companies Surbana and Jurong International have been working on AP Capital Master Plan developed in record time,
