The L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited is set to commission another stretch of its metro rail line from Ameerpet to LB Nagar on September 24.
The Ameerpet-LB Nagar 16 km metro rail line will be opened on Monday after Governor ESL Narasimhan flags off the service at the Ameerpet interchange station.
This will complete the 29 km Corridor One between LB Nagar and Miyapur. This will be the fist of the three corridors of the metro rail to be fully commissioned. Another corridor is expected to be fully commissioned during the year. In November 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated two stretches of metro rail spanning 30 km on two corridors.
The entire Corridor One will be operational for public from Monday after the inauguration, said NVS Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail. It is proposed to run metro trains every five minutes and the entire corridor of 29 km will be covered in 52 minutes. With this stretch, the metro will have a 46 km long network making it second longest in the country after Delhi metro.
KT Rama Rao, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Telangana on Wednesday tweeted that the one of the metro stretches will be inaugurated on September 24. The Minister accompanied by State Chief Secretary SK Joshi, called on The Governor to request him to flag off the new metro stretch soon after the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) issued the safety certificate for commencement for passenger train operations on the stretch.
