The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, has managed to secure assurance from the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on various issues concerning the State and possibly even extending special category status.
The Chief Minister had an interaction for over one-and-half hour with the Prime Minister, wherein the Niti Aayog has been entrusted with the task of charting out a roadmap to implement the reforms assured during bifurcation.
The Chief Minister also invited the Prime Minister for the Amaravati foundation stone ceremony scheduled for October 22.
Later after the meeting, the Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, said that Niti Aayog would hold deliberations with the State Governmet and then decide on how to take this forward.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister met with the the Union Urban Development Minister, M Venkaiah Naidu, and the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh. Venkaiah Naidu said that the matter of granting special status and need to provide funds to AP were among the issues discussed.
