Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said at Amaravati on Thursday that the State had achieved growth rate of 11.37 per cent in the first half of 2017-18 against the all-India average of 5.8 per cent.
He told the media that AP had achieved 25.60 per cent growth in agricultural sector against 2 per cent at all-India level. He said in industrial sector the growth rate stood at 7.43 per cent and in services sector the state achieved 8.38 per cent growth rate.
Referring to Polavaram project, the Chief Minister made it clear that the State Government was committed to completing the project at any cost. He said that he would visit the project site in West Godavari on Monday to assess the present situation. He said a three- member committee appointed by the Centre would also visit the project site.
He said he State Government had to get Rs 3000 cr for the completed work and a revised DPR was submitted to the Centre and he would discuss it with Union Minister for Water Resources Nitin Gadkari.
The Chief Minister expressed surprise over the stand of the opposition parties in the State, "which are trying to creating hurdles in the smooth completion of the project." They should rise above petty politics and strive for the welfare of the State and the country, he added.
