The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Monday was adjourned for the day with the first day of the budget session marred by protests by the YSR Congress Party members insisting on an adjournment motion.

The House, which began today for the Budget session, could not see any proceedings as YSR Congress Party adjournment motion moved in the morning was rejected by the Speaker Kodela Shiva Prasad Rao.

After the House convened here today, and the Speaker rejecting the adjournment motion on a discussion on Law ad Order issue, the YSR CP members shouted slogans insisting on taking up the motion, and disrupted the proceedings forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House.

When it reconvened again, the situation was no different with members displaying placards and shouting slogans insisting that the discussion on the law and order situation be taken up. The Speaker adjourned the House again.

With the Speaker asking members to come in a different form to take up the issue and repeated requests to go on with the question hour were in vain, he decided to adjourn the House for the day.

During the brief interaction, YSRCP insisted that a discussion on what they described as politics of murder take place.

The Business Advisory Council of the House, which met today decided to cut short the duration of the House by two days to conclude the session by September 6 so that the proceedings do not clash with that of the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

It was decided that the State Budget would be presented on August 20 and the Agriculture Budget on August 22.
