The Andhra Pradesh Government has begun kharif preparations. Beginning April 2, the Ministry of Agriculture will hold regional agricultural conferences and awareness yatras.
Agriculture Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana, who held a review meeting with officials here on Saturday on kharif preparations, said the first in the series of region-wise meetings will be held at Guntur.
This will be followed by the meetings in Elur (April 5), Hyderabad (April 12) and in Tirupati on April 18.
The kharif season generally begins in the first week of June when the State receives the first showers of monsoon.
“We have decided to give the farmers soil health cards. These cards would record the state of health of the agricultural land. Apart from the region-wise and divisional level meetings, we will hold meetings in every habitat where officials would relate information on the kharif farming,” he said.
