Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu assured his Tamil Nadu counterpart O Pannerselvam that an enquiry into the red sanders related incident where 20 people were killed will be completed without delay and necessary action will be initiated.

In a letter addressed to Panneerselvam, Naidu wrote: “I am in receipt of your letter dated April 7, 2015 in which you have expressed your concerns on the incident which took place in Srivarimettu and Eesagunda areas in the Sheshachalam forest area in which 20 persons belonging to Tamil Nadu were killed.”

“In order to ascertain the facts, apart from conducting post-mortem of the dead bodies, we have also ordered a magisterial enquiry into the incident. We have provided all necessary assistance in completing the process of delivering the dead bodies of the deceased to their relatives n time,” he wrote.

The letter assumes importance in the backdrop of serious concerns expressed by parties on the shooting incident where 20 red sanders smugglers/wood cutters were shot and killed by a Special Task Force team. Human rights activities too have raised concerns and notices have been issued to the State.
