A separate corporation Andhra Pradesh Solar Power Corporation Private Limited has been created for implementation of solar parks.
K Vijayanand, Managing Director, APGenco and Chairman, APSPCL, today inaugurated its website www.apscl.ap.gov.in.
The corporation has been formed as per the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Scheme for implementation of Ultra Mega Solar Parks wherein 50 per cent equity is held by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), 41 per cent by APGenco and 9 per cent by NREDCAP (New and Renewable Energy Corporation of Andhra Pradesh) to set up solar power projects.
These projects would be set up facilitated by Andhra Pradesh by providing land, transmission, water, roads and other infrastructure.
The APSPCL is presently developing 1500 MW NP Kunta Solar Park at Ananthapur and Kadapa districts and 1000 MW Gani & Sakunala Solar Park at Kurnool district.
At NP Kunta Solar Park, out of 1500 MW, NTPC is setting up 1000 MW solar power project wherein in Phase-I it is developing 250 MW for which contracts have been awarded and power purchase agreements entered with AP Discoms.
NTPC is planning to issue inviting interest for the remaining 750 MW in Phase–II.
